I’ve been asked several times in the last few months about tips and advice for running a local H+ or futurists group. I’ve decided to create a work-in-process document as a result. You can find the latest draft at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TYEEvxUGZ3thfyvMUdCpF55uTP0jBT84P4Wui4lIed0/edit?usp=sharing Let me know if you’d like to be added…[Read more]

I’ll happily give more publicity to this site, but I wondered if the H+ Connect team wanted to address any of the issues mentioned in http://hplusconnect.com/forums/topic/bugs-and-suggestions/, or other issues known to them, before attracting wider usage.

So far, I’m encouraged by what I read about Loomio.
To get a better feel for its strengths, I’d like to take part in an actual Loomio group – one in which there’s already a good history (but one in which I could feel a strong connection to what the group is trying to do).
I’ve had a quick look at the list of groups at…[Read more]

David started the topic A tool to host online meetings of all Humanity+ members worldwide in the forum About H+Connect 7 years ago
Suppose we wanted to organise an online meeting for all Humanity+ members worldwide. Assume that we could somehow deal with the timezone issue, and we could identify (say) a 90 minute timeslot that would be OK for most of the members worldwide to connect into.
What tool would be the best to host such a meeting?
Is that the kind of functionality…[Read more] -
David started the topic Question about the "Sitewide Activity" feed in the forum About H+Connect 7 years ago
According to what I see, the “Sitewide Activity” feed puts the newest postings at the top, which is good…
…except that if someone has replied to a posting, more recently, that fact isn’t taken into account in the listing order. Only the time/date of the parent posting is considered.
That means it’s less easy to spot where someone has made a…[Read more]

I received an email “daily digest of group activity” this morning (for the H+ Writers Network) that told me:
0 items
I found that annoying; if there are 0 items for me to look at, in a group, I’d prefer not to receive any notification.
On a related matter: the email contained two hotlinks apparently to “H+ Writers Network”. But the first of…[Read more]

David started the topic The most important missing role in the H+ community? in the forum General H+ Discussion 7 years ago
The H+ community as a whole knows about plenty of projects that it would be good to progress.
At the same time, there are many people in the H+ community, with a variety of skills and experience, that wish to support H+, but are unsure how best to do it.
In other words, there’s a need for us (the community as a whole) to become better at…[Read more]

I think this could be an effective method to match supply and demand. Another option would be to build this functionality into the platform.
Example: every member must tag themselves with at least 3 “specialty” tags related to their skillset/profession (web design, mobile optimization, etc). A designated “Work Needed” section would be created…[Read more]

David started the topic H+U in the forum General H+ Discussion 7 years ago
This document outlines some suggestions about a project named “H+U”.
I invite people to read the whole document, but to get started, I append a copy of the text from the first page.
(For a version with better formatting, and with the clickable URLs preserved, see the earlier link.)
I welcome comments. What I’ll welcome even more is offers of…[Read more]

David started the topic What’s a good length for a compendium book with articles relevant to H+? in the forum
H+ Writers Network 7 years ago
The reason I ask is because I’m in the planning phase of a project ”A25B”, to turn material from the Anticipating 2025 conference (held in Birkbeck College, London) into a book.
I’ve described this book as follows (I’ll be happy to share my work-in-progress planning document with anyone who thinks they might be interested to help the proje…[Read more]
